Last year we designed and started to build the new Winter themed garden to add winter-interest to our site and balance to our drought-resistant summer-flowering Beach Garden.
The structure of the garden is designed around a snaking living-willow tunnel. So, that's what we planted first. We used our own willow, cut and planted this time last year. And we're really happy that it has thrived, even after a worrying drought last summer.
We've added more wood chippings and edging to the pathway through the tunnel this winter and can't wait til it starts to leaf up!
A lovely curved wooden bench, donated by Emmaus Cambridge was added to the snaking shape.
And we've added lots of beautiful winter interest plants including Sarcoccoca, native irises, Heleborres, Snowdrops and early flowering crocus.
The garden is thriving this winter and we're looking forward to watching it mature into a beautiful space over the next few seasons.
