Fifty-five years of Cambridge Cyrenians: supporters gather to mark the milestone

Cambridge Cyrenians marked its 55th anniversary this week with a breakfast networking event at 95 Regent Street, bringing together supporters, partners and our friends to celebrate more than five decades of work tackling homelessness in Cambridge.

Fifty-five years ago, Cambridge Cyrenians started with a simple idea: that people experiencing homelessness deserve a safe place to live. That principle still drives everything we do today, from our "homes not hostels" model to the wraparound Wellbeing & Independence Services support we offer people rebuilding their lives.

It meant a great deal to have so many supporters, partners and friends in the room to mark the occasion, and we thank everyone who took the time to join us.

Thank you to our hosts and hospitality partners

The event was made possible by the generosity of Georgia Butler and Rhys Davies of Mantle Space, who offered their rooftop terrace for the morning and kept the coffee and tea flowing throughout. The space was made available through Cambridge Cyrenians' membership in the Get Synergised 'With Purpose' network.

Breakfast was provided by The Edge Cafe, Cambridge, with a spread of pastries, fruit and juices for guests to enjoy as they caught up and made new connections.

Thank you to everyone who joined us

Thank you as well to our staff, trustees and volunteers who made the day happen, and to everyone who came along, including familiar faces from Cambridge City Council, Menor Framing, Famille, Noise Solution, CAMYOGA, The Liberation Cycle, Sallis Media, Get Synergised, It Takes A City, HTS Estates, Prentis & Co LLP and Mills & Reeve.

Jake's Story

It only takes one change in circumstances for homelessness to happen. For Jake*, it started with a rotator cuff injury at work. He lost his job, then his home, and found himself sleeping on a park bench in the freezing cold on his first night without one.
