Yesterday, on Saturday 18th Sept, we held an open garden event in conjunction with the Open Cambridge Festival, supported by Cambridge University.
This years festival theme has been Edible Cambridge so our community allotment was a perfect fit.
And what an amazing response from the public! We had several visitors who had found our event on the Open Cambridge website, some passers-by who just popped in to have a look at what was going on and quite a few visitors from the local area who said they didn't even know about our great work on their doorsteps.
Some of the comments from happy visitors:
"We've lived here for over 20 years and didn't know this amazing place existed!"
"An Oasis!"
"So peaceful and therapeutic"
"What an amazing collection of themed garden areas - I’ve taken home so many ideas!"
Our community members got involved by taking visitors on short tours around the site, chatting about what we do and the all important job of gate keepers!
Visitors also enjoyed some delicious refreshments made by Alice and Ayana including Elderberry Fizz with our own-grown cucumber and mint and some canapes made from our fresh tomatoes, chillies, onions and basil.
Thanks to the team from Open Cambridge who supported the event, everyone who came to visit and of course all of the community members who helped out on the day!
