Last week we held our Harvest Festival 2024.
It's been a frustrating growing year due to some quite extreme weather patterns (plus slugs!) But we managed to do second sowings and lots of our crops caught up.
We harvested onions, kale, 3 types of beans, broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, chard and chillies. Some of us prepared the veg by giving them a quick wash and chopped them into a pot whilst others built a fire in our bowl.
We also decorated our fire circle with the autumn bunting that we made at our natural dyes workshop.
Our delicious veggie stew went down very well with bread and chilli butter that one of our group had prepared with chillies from the polytunnel.
As it happened to be National Poetry Day too, several of the group had arranged to bring poetry in to read around the fire.
What a lovely celebration of all our hard work this year!
